The Education system of Bangladesh is relatively large, consisting more than 40 million students and complex as characterized by a large variety of providers. Government of Bangladesh is committed to provide education for all (Article 17 of Constitution) but about 8.3 million children as between 6 to 15 years are still out of school. The dropout rates among enrolling student are highest for children who come from marginalized and excluded group. Although Indicator 4.2.2 of SDG consists Participation rate in organized learning (one year before the official primary entry age), Bangladesh has manage 34.3% gross enrollment ratio in pre-primary education. For achieving SDG-4, these can be obstruct for our country. Kernel Foundation have targeted to work in field of education focusing mention issues for ensuring sustainable village development. The Foundation are committed to strengthening government initiatives to provide education for all through working from village level.

BACKGROUND
OBJECTIVES
  1. Provide primary and pre-primary education to disadvantaged children from marginalized community.

  2. Early childhood development in every village

  3. Identify, enroll and retain children at risk of exclusion from primary education

  4. Improve Life skill of students

  5. Develop institutional collaboration and horizontal learning mechanism between formal primary education providers.

  6. Document and disseminate effective practices and lessons.

  1. Working as complements Government’s efforts in reaching SDGs goals

  2. Develop early childhood education center in every village

  3. School supervision through engaging community people in CSO and CBO

  4. Providing scholarship for preventing dropout from formal education and ensuring completion of secondary education

  5. Identify drop out and execute non-formal education 

  6. Providing Life Skill Based Training (LSBT) sessions to students

  7. Inclusive in terms of gender, ethnicity, disability and remote locations

  8. A broad-based strategy that includes partnership with local NGOs, communities and engagement with local level government officials

  9. Program fits into SDG &  all upcoming planning of government

STRATEGIC APPROACHES
TARGET GROUP

Poor and marginalized children especially from women headed and marginalized family of rural area

ACTIVITIES

We want to work targeting single village to ensure 100% enrollment, dropout free that village taking following initiatives:

  • Conducting study and social mapping to identify every single children and maintaining database for every village

  • Identifying all children bellow 5 and ensure early child development, care and pre-primary education for all these children through Early Child Education Center (ECEC)

  • Identifying every single children from marginalized poor and vulnerable family who are in risk of dropout

  • Taking initiative for enrolling all children in pre-primary and primary education

  • Providing scholarship to at least 5 children of every school of village for preventing dropout for ensuring completion of secondary education level by every children of particular village

  • Donate education cost of whole year

  • Establishing donation center in every school which will provide education tools, books, gadgets and gears etc. to the students who are not financially capable enough for purchasing these

  • Providing Life Skill Based Education sessions to students (adolescent boys and girls) of secondary school as well as school dropout students

  • Establishing Community Based Study Center (CBSC) for providing education to dropout children and mainstreaming them to formal education system.

  • Trying to manage working opportunities  for marginalized poor parents

  • Establishing Community Based Organization (CBO) and Civil Society Organization (CSO) in village level for school monitoring for enrolling children to school, preventing dropout and monitoring CBSC.

  • CBO and CSO will work for ensuring a positive school environment, especially for girls.

  • Supporting students to access technical and vocational training according to their needs and ability.

  • Providing life skills training to support children to reach their aspirations and become responsible citizens.

  • Establishing Learning Center (public library) in every village for promoting reading habit of student

  • Ensuring technological facilities and at least 2 daily newspaper in all Learning Center for ensuring information access for student of rural area

  • Organizing different types of extra curriculum activities through Learning Center. 

Expected Outcome
  • Achieving three implementation means of SDG-4; Effective leaning environment through CBO and CSO, Scholarship for preventing dropout and advocacy for increasing the supply of qualified teachers;

  • Ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality  early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education (SDG 4.2)

  • Ensured promotion of schools with access to basic services and facilities (SDG Indicator 4.a.1) in village level through advocacy of LC, CBO and CSO

  • Ensure that all girls and boys of particular village complete primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes (SDG 4.1)

  • Ensure life skills training for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship for every student (SDG 4.4)

KERNEL Foundation is working for ensuring prevention of dropping out from school targeting from village level and will conduct second chance education for dropped out where 100% dropped out students of that village will be included.

4.2 Early childhood development and universal

In the Village Leaning Center, pre-primary education will be provided will second chance education. It will be work in multi-grad approach.

By 2030, ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary  education, including university

KERNEL Foundation is working for ensuring equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational in targeted village. And it will be conducted through VLC and collaboration will local government.

4.4 Relevant skills for decent work

By 2030, substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship

Through the Model, Foundation are contributing for substantially increasing the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship in targeted village.

4.5 Universal youth literacy

By 2030, ensure that all youth and a substantial proportion of  adults, both men and women,  achieve literacy and numeracy

4.6 Education for sustainable development and global citizenship

By 2030, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and   appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development.

The Foundation is working achieve this goal in Dulalpur through model with inclusion of villagers, community people, village leaders, religious leaders and students in CBO, CSO and learning club.
